Project 25 article in gaming magazine!

14 June 2009

I had a really nice email yesterday from a very caring guy called Marijin, who sent me a filled questionaire form for project 25, which i get every now and then and am very thankful for.

What he also sent was images from a Belgian gaming magazine called PCGameplay. The magazine had two short articles about project 25 and Decadence. I had a few emails from magazines asking for my permission to bundle project 25, which was very cool, but no one actually sent me an email telling me they bundled it or a PDF with the article for me to read. But to actually get an image from a magazine was so friggin' awesome!

I had no idea project 25 would get this popular, I just released it on the internet to get some feedback so i could go on with my final year project and really didn't expected it to make such an impact.

Below is a translation to english which Marijin also sent me:

Decadence

Decadence is a multiplayer mod in a post apocalyptic world based on the source engine. Two teams of each two players combat each other in a fight to take control of their enemies base. The levels are a chain of compact areas where the player better run from cover to cover if you don’t want to pack your bags for a one way trip to the eternal hunting grounds. Each of the four playable characters have unique weapons and skills. Teamwork is key. Not only to provide covering fire but also to revive you if you are unfortunate enough to bite the dust. You can sweat out the bullets finding cover behind a wall but after swallowing a unpleasant amount of lead it’s you brother in arms that can keep you going.

Project 25

Filip Coulianos has been a busy bee. Not only has he delivered a nice piece of level design for the Decadence mod, he has in a three month time frame developed project 25, a single player mod for half live 2. Coulianos has set his goal to be as true to the original as possible, therefore you should not expect project 25 to have new weapons or enemies, but just a good solid piece of half live 2 game play. That the mod has a very detailed finish should surprise no one, this is after all Coulianos final project for his art studies. If the man deserves a medal or just average passing mark is something you can judge. Overall play time is not long (an average gamer will play this in half an hour ), but quality wins from quantity.
